1. Initial Contact - 30 minute phone consulation with Caitlin
Once you have sent an enquiry to GREENER AVENUES therapy regarding perinatal mental health support, I will then reach out to you to arrange a 30- minute free telephone consulation. We will arrange a time when it is convenient for you to have a brief chat with me, over the phone whereby we will discuss what are your areas of concern, in regards to your mental health during the perinatal period. The phone call is an opportunity for you to ask questions of me as well as to determine whether we be suitable to work as well as whether I would be able to offer you the best course of treatment, in regards to perinatal mental health issue. If at the end of the call, we both agree that we would be able to work together, we will then schedule an initial assessment session.
2. Specialised Assessment of identified Perinatal Mental Health concerns
During the assessment session you will complete several assessment questionnaires as well as spend time describing your symptoms so I can gather as much relevant information from you, in regards to your mental health and in relation to the perinatal period. This specialised population of patients would require in-depth assessment and all-encompassing care. We will go through the therapy contract together and sign the agreement as well as decided on the number of sessions for your block of therapy. As per clinical recommendations, for a patient receiving mental health support during the perinatal period, it is important to plan for a break in therapy when the pregnant woman is 36 to 37 weeks pregnant and then not to resume until between to 4 to 6 weeks post-natal.
