Frequently asked questions
I am new to the world of counselling and therapy, what should I expect from the process?
If you are interested in recieving counselling from Greener Avenues Therapy the process will follow a rather simple procedure.
You will first have a free 30-minute phone consultation with me whereby we will discuss what has precipitated you decision to reach out to a counsellor. Once we agree that the counselling would benefit you and there is mutual agreement about the counselling, we will then schedule your first session which is an assessment session. The assessment session is longer than an regular counselling session whereby you will complete some assessment questionnaires. In addition, we spend time during the assessment discussing more in detail what is the main problem you are struggling with and start to identify the goals you would like to work on in counselling. We will agree on a number of sessions as well as go over the Greener Avenues Therapy client contract together. We will then schedule your sessions agreeing on a set time and day you can attend your sessions. When your counselling sessions come to an end, we will have a concluding session whereby we will reflect on your progress as well as complete the ending assessments.
What types of therapy services does Greener Avenues Therapy offer and how will it help me?
At Greener Avenues Therapy I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you overcome a variety of mental health challenges.
CBT is a highly effective, evidence-based approach that focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. In addition to CBT, I integrate various strategies and tools from Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Person-Centred Therapy (PCT).
This comprehensive approach allows us to tailor our therapy sessions to meet your individual needs.
Compassion Focused Therapy helps in managing self-criticism and building self-compassion, which can be particularly beneficial if you are struggling with issues like anxiety or low self-esteem. Person-Centred Therapy, on the other hand, allows us to create a supportive and empathetic environment where you can explore your feelings and experiences at your own pace.
By combining these therapies, I aim to empower your mind and heal your heart, guiding you through a shared journey towards emotional well-being and personal growth.
